The Preserve brings Gianni Schicchi and Tabarro as an opera lovers’ double bill. These are both from Puccini’sIl Trittico. Schicchi is a comedy about rich old Buoso Donati who dies, and all of his family is very upset and very interested in who gets all his wealth. When they find out that he is going to leave it all to the church, well something must be done, in steps Gianni Schicchi to their apparent rescue.
Tabarro is another ‘squarcio di vita’ slice of life, in the verismo style bringing an unhappy marriage, a cheating wife and an suspecting and rather violent husband all together.
Gianni Schicchi and Il Tabarro will be conducted by Anthony LaGruth and directed by Benjamin Spierman.
Doors open at 7:45 PM. Tickets are $50 and include wine, soft drinks and dessert/coffee.
